What is CERT?
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training provides citizens with an opportunity to learn basic emergency response skills to assist themselves, their friends and family, and/or their neighborhoods in case of an emergency.
When emergencies happen, CERT members can give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site. CERT members can also help with non-emergency projects that help improve the safety of the community.
As part of the initial CERT Basic Training, participants will be learn the function of CERT, disaster preparation, hazards around the home and community, small fire extinguishment, basic medical training including triage, and search and rescue techniques.
How do I get trained?
Mesa Fire and Medical Department is seeking residents interested in learning how to help their neighbors and the community in the event of a disaster or other emergency.
