The 2020 Point-In-Time Count will occur on Tuesday, January 28, 2020.
The Point-In-Time Homeless Street and Shelter Count is an effort to learn more about the individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County and the entire country. In order to accomplish local and federal goals toward ending homelessness, we first need to know who is experiencing homelessness, where they are, and better understand the factors surrounding their homelessness.
Volunteers are needed to survey individuals experiencing homelessness in Mesa, so they can be provided with programs and services that will best fit their needs. No prior experience with the Homeless Count is needed!
A volunteer training session will be offered prior to the Count:
- Wednesday, January 22, 2020, 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm - Salvation Army, Building 3 (241 E 6th St., Mesa, AZ 85201)
On the day of the count, an orientation will be hosted at 5:00 a.m. Then, volunteers will be sent to their project location by 5:30 a.m. to begin the Homeless Count. Volunteers will be divided into groups of 3 to 4 people for each project location. Volunteers will be interviewing and surveying individuals in their project location that are experiencing homelessness. Volunteers must be able to provide their own transportation to assigned area.
Participants are able to sign up individually or as a group.

We are accepting donations of hygiene/care packages to be given out during the Point-In-Time Count. We are aiming for gallon-sized bags to hand out, and we are open to what is donated! To donate, please contact Emily Greco (contact information below). Donations are needed by Wednesday, January 22, 2020.

- Waterless shampoo
