2026 General Election

 

Mesa will hold a General Election on November 3, 2026 for the purpose of a candidate runoff, if necessary, and consideration of four ballot measures as shown below.

 September 19  Military and overseas ballots mailed
 October 5  Last day to register to vote in the General Election
 October 7  Ballots mailed and early voting begins
 October 23  Last day to request ballot by mail
 October 27  Last day to mail back your ballot

Mesa Ballot Measures for the General Election

Question 1. General Obligation Bond: Enhance Public Safety

Resolution No. 12538 (En Español(PDF, 205KB))

Shall Mesa be authorized to issue and sell $150,000,000 of general obligation bonds to provide funding to support fire and medical, police, and public safety improvements, facilities, and communication systems, associated equipment, apparatuses, and technology, municipal improvements that support community and public safety, and acquisition of land for such purposes?

Question 2. General Obligation Bond: Enhance Transportation Improvements for Safer and Less Congested Streets

Shall Mesa be authorized to issue and sell $135,000,000 of general obligation bonds to provide funding to support safer and less congested streets, including for arterial street improvements, pavement reconstruction, street improvements, streetlights, traffic signals, communication infrastructure, shared use paths, associated improvements, and the acquisition of land for such purposes?

Question 3. Charter Amendment: Section 209(A) Relating to Council Meeting Procedures and Public Notice

To conform with state law, shall Mesa City Charter Section 209(A) relating to Council meetings be amended to require that the procedures for fixing the time and place of regular meetings and giving public notice of meetings, and the purposes for executive sessions be in accordance with state law?

Question 4. Charter Amendment: Section 211 Relating to Ordinance Posting and Publication

To conform with state law modernization efforts, shall Mesa City Charter Section 211 relating to ordinances be amended to require ordinances to be posted on the City’s website, posted at one physical location in Mesa, and published in accordance with state law?

Pro/Con Argument Form

Deadline

  • Pro/Con arguments for the publicity pamphlet must be filed with the City Clerk's Office at 20 East Main Street, Suite 150, Mesa, Arizona 85201 no later than 6:00 p.m. on August 5, 2026.

Pro/Con Argument Requirements

  • Arguments may not exceed 300 words.
  • Each argument must include a sworn statement and the original signature(s) of every person sponsoring the argument.
  • The address and telephone number of each signer must be included with the submission; however, this information will not be published in the publicity pamphlet.

Filing Fee and Payment Information

  • A $250 filing fee is required for each argument submitted. This fee helps offset a portion of the cost of printing and distributing the publicity pamphlet.
  • If payment will be made by credit card, arrangements must be made in advance by contacting the City Clerk's Office at 480-644-2099.

Pro/Con Argument Submission

  • All arguments must first be submitted using the online Argument Submission Form.
  • Once the electronic form is submitted, a PDF Statement form will be emailed to you to print and sign.
  • Arguments are not considered officially filed until the following have been received by the City Clerk's Office prior to the filing deadline:
    • The original signed argument and sworn statement with original signatures; and
    • The required $250 filing fee.

Filing Process

  • Arguments are printed in the publicity pamphlet in the order they are officially filed with the City Clerk's Office.
  • To submit the original signed argument, please contact the City Clerk's Office at 480-644-2099 to schedule an appointment prior to the filing deadline.
