Overview

Our pools provide fun, safe, and quality aquatic programs for residents and visitors. Aquatic Centers and neighborhood pools offer water fun, double as water classrooms, and even provide summer jobs. Whether you’re looking for adult water exercise, youth swim teams or searching for a unique venue to host your next event, we offer affordable recreation and leisure opportunities for all.

Public Swim

Public Swim Season 2026

Opening Dates:

  • Soft Opening (all facilities): Saturday, May 16 from 2 PM - 5 PM
  • Official Summer Opening: Saturday, May 23

 All pools will be open from 1 PM – 5 PM on opening day, regardless of regular hours

Season Closures:

  • Closing July 18: Carson, Shepherd, and Kino
  • Closing July 25: Mesa, Brimhall, and Stapley
  • Open Weekends (Saturdays and Sundays only) July 25- September 6: Skyline and Rhodes 

Hours vary by facility. Please refer to individual pool pages below for specific schedules.

Holiday Hours:

  • Open: Memorial Day and July 4
  • Closed: Labor Day 

Pass Information:

  • Public swim passes are valid only during designated public swim hours at each facility.

 

Swim Lessons

Swim Lessons are offered in the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons. Participants enrolled will be sorted by skill level on the first meeting date. Classes formed will not exceed 8 participants. Review the table below for a quick look at what skills your child should be able to perform at the different class levels.

Pool Rules

The policies, rules and regulations are in place for the comfort and safety of all guests. These rules are in addition to rules and regulations posted at each aquatic center. Please review these regulations when you visit any of our facilities.

Swimming Pool Rules

  • Obey lifeguards at all times
  • No loitering in the bathrooms/changing areas
  • Use of pool slides require swimming attire without rivets
  • Do not leave valuables unattended, the City of Mesa is not responsible for lost or stolen items
  • No glass containers or alcoholic beverages
  • Small coolers are allowed and are subject to inspection before entering the pool area
  • Food and beverages must remain in snack bar and/or grass area
  • Those who are not completely potty-trained MUST wear swim diapers
  • Swimsuits only in the pool, no denim or street clothes allowed in the water
  • Children under the age of 8 will be wrist banded for safety and lifeguard recognition
  • Parents/Guardians are responsible for their children, lifeguards are present to ensure safety and respond to emergency situations
  • Stay within arms-reach of those under 8 years old
  • Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied and attended by an adult or responsible teenager (16+)
  • At facilities where lockers are available, locks are not provided
  • Only U.S Coast Guard approved flotation devices are allowed, no arm floaties
  • No smoking or e-cigarettes/vaping allowed
  • Sunscreen is advised, no suntan oil
  • No swearing, intimidating or threats of any kind, physical or verbal violence will not be tolerated
  • Only service animals are allowed in the facility, no pets

Diving board and site specific amenity rules are posted at each facility. 

Behavior Guidelines

  • Kindness, consideration, and courteous behavior is appreciated and expected
  • Unacceptable behavior may result in suspension
  • Unacceptable behavior includes but is not limited to:
    • Verbal abuse
    • Intimidation
    • Criminal Damage
    • Disorderly Conduct
    • Profanity/Threats
    • Harassment
    • Under the influence of alcohol/illegal drugs
    • Threatening or jeopardizing the health, safety and/or wellbeing of others

Guidelines:

  • Lap swim capacity is limited to 12–16 swimmers per hour
  • Each lane may have up to 2 swimmers at a time
  • The number of available lanes is based on facility programming and managed by onsite staff
  • Lap swim is for individual community use only
  • Lanes cannot be reserved or rented for fitness groups or teams
  • Instruction and lessons are only permitted by City of Mesa staff

Eligibility:

  • Participants must be 12 years or older
  • Swimmers under 12 who participate in competitive programs (e.g., USA Swimming) may be allowed with parent supervision onsite

Locations & Schedules:

  • June-July: select availability at all 8 facilities during public swim 
  • August-May: Available at Kino and Skyline

Aquatic Teams & Specialty Lessons


The Seasonal programs below are offered in the summer and provide a great opportunity for children to develop and learn about the different Aquatic Sports.

Aquatic Teams

Competitive Ruling: any athlete participating in any USA sanctioned, YMCA, or any other organized aquatic team/program after May 25 will not be eligible to compete in the City summer recreational team programs. Refunds will not be offered to violators of this rule.

Second sport discount only applies for the same child who is enrolled in more than one recreational team sport in the same summer season.

Specialty Lessons

Class  Description
Private Lessons This class is an opportunity for one-on-one instruction for any skill level or ability. Goals are set with the instructor and swimmer (or their caregiver) during the course of the lesson. Participants must be 3 years or older and potty-trained.
Artistic Swim Lessons This class focuses on the fundamentals of artistic swimming. Participants will work on the foundations which include treading, basic figures, techniques, and safety. Participants must be 6 years old and must be able to swim comfortably in deep water for enrollment.
Dive Lessons  

This class focuses on the fundamentals of springboard diving. Participants will work on the foundations which include hurdles, safety, basic water entries and competitive dives such as pikes and straight dives. Participants must be 6 years old and must be able to swim comfortably in deep water for enrollment. Coaches will expand teaching based on individual diver ability.

FlowRider Lessons

This class focuses on the fundamentals of the FlowRider. Participants will learn to ride the wave, build confidence, and develop skills through beginner and intermediate levels. Skills include improving balance, practicing techniques, cutting the wave, and learning new tricks. Lessons are held at Rhodes Aquatic Complex. Participants must meet height requirements (42” for beginner, 48” for intermediate) and have a liability waiver signed by a legal guardian.

Water Polo Lessons  

This class focuses on the fundamentals of water polo. Participants will work on treading, ball handling, passing, defending, and safety. Participants must be 6 years old and must be able to swim comfortably in deep water for enrollment.

This Father’s Day, it’s time to flop like no one’s watching (even though everyone will be). With divisions for every family size, it’s dad’s chance to show off those belly-flopping skills and win some prizes that’ll make him feel splash-tacular. Whether dads are making the leap or fans are cheering them on, it’s going to be a belly-laughing good time. Best of all, dads get in free, so bring the whole family for a splashing celebration.

 

Public Swim Theme Days

Join your local lifeguards for games, activities, and plenty of fun, all included with regular pool admission. Win cool prizes, learn about water safety, and connect with your community. Each local pool hosts two fun-themed events throughout the summer, so don’t miss out!
