Internships with the Mesa Public Safety Support vary widely and are specific to available projects and staffing. Positions may include hands-on training and exposure to different areas, including fingerprint identification, latent print comparison, controlled substance analysis, serology, DNA, and firemarks/toolmark comparisons.
Interns must be a junior or senior in a degree program in alignment with one of the forensic scientist positions (e.g., biochem, foresenic science, etc.) Internships are unpaid, and lengths are based on projects and staff availability. Applicants must submit a resume and unofficial transcripts, complete an application, interview with the Internship Coordinator and unit/area supervisors, and successfully complete a criminal background check. Applicants will also need to submit college transcripts with recent coursework.
