**Routine Sanitary Sewer Smoke Testing | August 31–September 1** - The City of Mesa will conduct routine sanitary sewer smoke testing August 31–September 1 along a portion of N. Ashbrook, between E. McKellips Road and E. Lockwood Street. Residents in this area may see white smoke coming from rooftop plumbing vents, sewer manholes or other locations during testing. This is a normal part of the testing process. The smoke is safe, non-toxic, non-flammable and dissipates quickly. Smoke testing is a common maintenance practice used by utilities throughout the country to identify leaks, damaged pipes and improper sewer connections before they become larger problems.
