Project Description

Existing sewer mains have reliably served this area of Mesa for over 50 years. However, with continuous growth additional sewer capacity is needed. To address this, Mesa has contracted with B&F Contracting to install a new 15-inch diameter sewer. Accomplishing this task will require updating and/or relocating sections of existing utilities like water and gas lines and some storm drains.project area map

To reduce roadway closures/restrictions, the sewer line installation and utility relocations will be done in various phases; at times, work will continue through the night or on weekends where possible. Due to the recent water main break in 2024 and having an overlapping work area, the reconstruction of the Gilbert and McKellips intersection has also been incorporated into this project after the utility work completes.

Project Phasing

Sewer line installation on Stapley Dr is now working north of the Brown Rd Intersection allowing restoration of left turns in all directions. 15-inch sewer line installation is moving north on Stapley, currently between Glencove and Halifax.

Utility Relocations - Storm drain relocations and improvements are nearing completion at Stapley/McKellips intersection as well as on McKellips near the Outback and Dutch Bros. This is expected to be completed by the week of June 1, 2025. Utility verification and relocation efforts will be active in the Gilbert/McKellips intersection intermittently in early June. Traffic control will be removed during weekends when possible.
