Monthly Safety Message

Stay Safe This Monsoon Season!

Monsoons can damage electric and natural gas infrastructure, resulting in power outages and natural gas emergencies. Here are some tips on how to “weather” the storm:

  1. Review your knowledge of energy safety in and outside your home.
  2. Know your emergency contact numbers – call 911 and:
  • Mesa Electric 480-644-2262
  • Mesa Gas 480-644-4277

During storms:

Gas appliances are safe to use unless you smell gas or hear a hissing sound from appliances or meters. If so, leave immediately and report it.

After storms:

If a storm damages your home or yard, have your appliances and piping inspected by a professional. Remember to call 8-1-1 to have utilities located at least two days before digging to repair any damage. It’s free and it’s the law.

Stay Alert — Power outages or damage to infrastructure may last longer than storms.
