Monthly Safety Message

Start the New Year with Safety!

As we welcome in a new year, let’s make natural gas safety a family priority. Ensure that everyone is aware of the signs of a natural gas leak. Because natural gas is colorless and odorless, a distinctive rotten-egg smell is added to help you detect it.

You can also spot a gas leak by:

• Hearing a blowing or hissing sound coming from a pipeline, meter, or appliance

• Seeing unusual changes in soil, dead or dying plants, blowing dirt, or bubbling water

If you notice any of these signs, leave the area immediately and call 911, as well as our emergency gas hotline at 480-644-4277.
