Public Information & Communications Internships

Through partnerships with the ASU Cronkite School of Journalism, the City of Mesa’s Public Information and Communications Office has multiple internship positions available in different areas. 

Mesa 11

Mesa 11 is the official government access station for Mesa. In this semester-long internship, interns spend a semester growing their skills through hands-on production projects and field assignments. Applicants for this position need to be able to shoot, edit and create stories that impact our community and have working knowledge of shot composition, basic editing skills on Adobe Premiere and basic audio understanding.  This internship is hands-on, creative and interns will assist on larger productions and nurture their own stories from start to finish. This internship is open to juniors and above enrolled in the ASU Cronkite School of Journalism, and applicants will apply via ASU. 

This position is on hold for the fall 2026 semester. 

Social Media

This semester-long internship position with Mesa’s Social Media team allows interns to grow their skills in photography, social media, and communications strategy on a city-wide scale. Interns will capture and develop digital content, including photography and video of city events, while gaining exposure to different aspects of communications across a large organization. Applicants for this position will ideally have experience with photography at large events, capturing video with phones and DSLRs, a working knowledge of social media best practices, and the ability to tell an impactful story through photos and video. This internship is open to juniors and above enrolled in the ASU Cronkite School of Journalism, and applicants will apply via ASU.
