You or a team will make a PSA film. PSAs share the same goal: to persuade people to take action and help solve an issue that affects the community. A Public Service Announcement, or PSA, is a short, non-commercial announcement created to provide information to the public.

Eligibility

  • Open to Mesa Students ages 12-18
  • Participants can enter on their own with a classroom, a group or family members.
  • PSA must be between 15 to 30 seconds in length.
  • PSA must NOT include any copyrighted music, audio/video clips, characters, logos, or other protected material.
  • PSA content MUST be on theme

Contest Period

Submissions will be accepted from January 1, 2026 through February 28, 2026. Winners will be announced in March 2026

Prizes

Grand Prize Winner (1):

  • Bicycle (Up to $500 value) from MesaMoves
  • Gift Bag from MesaMoves ($50 value)
  • PSA Featured during CycloMesa
  • PSA Featured on MesaMoves and City of Mesa’s Facebook Pages
  • $100 gift card to Downtown Mesa
  • 2 ASU professors (Film and Community Outreach Professors) will review your PSA and provide constructive feedback.

Runners Up Winners (2):

  • Gift Bag from MesaMoves ($50 value)
  • PSA Featured during CycloMesa
  • PSA Featured on MesaMoves and City of Mesa’s Facebook Pages
  • $50 gift card to Downtown Mesa
  • 2 ASU professors (Film and Community Outreach Professors) will review your PSA and provide constructive feedback.

PSA Content and Theme

Submissions should feature the following theme:

Ride your bike on the right side of the road, with traffic, not against it. Stay as far to the right as possible. Use appropriate hand signals and respect the rules of the road, stopping at stop signs and obeying traffic signals.

Judging Criteria

All submissions will be reviewed by a judging panel using the following criteria:

  • PSA must meet all eligibility criteria - 30 points
  • Message clarity; the message is easy to understand - 50 points
  • Creativity and originality - 20 points

How to Enter

  • Once you finish your PSA, upload it to Youtube.
  • Send an email to mesamoves@mesaaz.gov with:
    • Your PSAs Title
    • The name of everyone in your group
    • The name of your school (if applicable)
    • Link to your PSA
