Delivering Safe, Clean, Efficient Natural Gas Service to Your Community

Natural gas pipelines are a safe way to move energy while providing clean and reliable energy to homes, schools, businesses, factories, and electric power generation plants. We provide natural gas to customers in the Mesa, Queen Creek, and San Tan Valley communities through underground distribution lines.

Ensuring the Safety and Integrity of our Natural Gas System

Our priority is maintaining and operating a safe and reliable gas system for our customers while ensuring the safety of those living and/or working near our natural gas pipelines. We ensure our system’s operational integrity by monitoring it 24/7 and inspecting it regularly.

Despite our efforts, occasional pipeline leaks can result from third-party damages, natural disasters, vandalism, or corrosion. This could result in evacuations, service outages, fire, property damage, injury, or loss of life. Timely recognition and response minimizes the potential effects caused by escaping gas.

Protecting Our Communities Through Safe Excavation Practices

Excavation damage remains a leading cause of serious pipeline accidents. To help prevent them, we educate our customers, residents, and excavators about the importance of notifying Arizona 811 before beginning any digging project to have utilities located and marked — a simple, free process that’s also required by law.

Pipeline Markers: What They Mean and Why They Matter

decorativeUtility line depths can vary, and multiple lines may be located within the same area. Because most natural gas pipelines are underground, yellow pipeline markers are used to indicate their presence. These markers identify the pipeline operator and the type of material being transported and provide emergency contact information.

Gas Leak Awareness

Knowing how to recognize a natural gas leak saves lives. Our efforts focus on educating individuals who live and work near our pipelines on how to detect and respond to potential leaks.

Natural gas is colorless and odorless in its natural state, and a chemical odor that smells like rotten eggs is added to help detect its presence. Gas leaks can also be identified by:

  • Hearing a hissing or unusual sound from a pipeline, appliance, or natural gas meter
  • Seeing unusual changes to the soil or vegetation, blowing dirt, or water bubbling around a gas line or meter.

If a gas leak is suspected, call 9-1-1 and our gas emergency line at 480-644-4277.

Working Together for Effective Pipeline Emergency Response

In the event of a pipeline emergency, we partner closely with local emergency responders and public officials. Through regular meetings, training, and drills, we coordinate response efforts and share critical information about our pipelines, procedures, and key contacts to help protect life, property, and the environment.
