Board Responsibilities

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board shall advise the Council on policy matters relating to the operation and development of all City parks and recreational facilities, including all City-owned or operated golf courses, and on the recreational programs of the City. The Board shall elect one (1) of its members to serve as chairperson, and each chairperson so elected shall serve for a one (1) year term.

Role of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board:

• Advise the City Council on parks and recreation policy issues
• Interact with residents on parks and recreation issues and mediate when necessary
• Act as a sounding board for staff on parks and recreation operational matters
• Be knowledgeable about the benefits that parks and recreation services provide within a community
• Ongoing resident/neighborhood contact within area of influence and share with staff
• View issues from a "big picture" and "greater good" perspective
• Recognize efforts of community parks and recreation volunteers
• Be a champion for parks and recreation in the community
