How to File a Police Report
This service is provided as a convenience and is available in 30+ languages to report a crime that is not in progress. To file a report online, you must be over 17 years old. If you want to report a crime in progress, immediately call 9-1-1.
Filing online keeps officers available for emergency and in-progress calls. Most property crimes, thefts, and lost items can be reported online. You may only report incidents that have occurred in the City of Mesa. If the incident you are reporting occurred outside the City of Mesa, please contact the appropriate agency to make your report.
You can use this online service to report the following crimes:
- Counterfeiting
- Credit Card/Automated Teller Machine Fraud
- Credit/Debit card fraud (unauthorized transactions)
- Criminal Damage
- False Pretenses/Swindle/Confidence Game
- Forgery
- Harassment
- Hit & Run ($2,000 or less in damage, no injuries, no identifiable suspect information, a license plate is not suspect information)
- Identity Theft
- Illegal Dumping
- Impersonation
- Intimidation/Threats (Does not involve mass gatherings ie; School, Church, Sporting Events, or other large gatherings)
- Lost Property
- Shoplifting
- Supplemental Reports
- Theft of a Bicycle
- Theft from a Building
- Theft from coin operated machine (if there is no physical evidence that needs to be processed)
- Theft from vehicles (not vehicle burglary)
- Theft of Motor Vehicle Parts or Accessories (if there is no physical evidence that needs to be processed)
- Theft of Services
- Trespassing
- Welfare Fraud
- Wire Fraud
Important: Please call our non-emergency number at 480-644-2211 before visiting any police station in person. Our staff will direct you to the correct station for your report, so you avoid delays or unnecessary trips.

If your incident does not qualify for online reporting or you prefer to speak with an officer, call the Mesa Police Department’s non-emergency number at 480-644-2211. Our dispatchers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and will assist you with the next steps.
Kiosks for Online Reporting
Online reporting kiosks are available at the following locations, Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can access the same information found at the kiosks on your cell phone, home computer, or tablet.

- Northeast Division: This location does not have a kiosk currently.

- Superstition Division: 2430 S Ellsworth Rd, Mesa, AZ 8520
Additional Information
- Reports filed online or at a kiosk may take up to seven business days to process.
- If you are unsure if your incident qualifies for online reporting, please call our non-emergency number 480-644-2211 for guidance.
You CANNOT use this online reporting system if any of the following apply:
- The crime is happening right now
- A firearm was involved
- The suspect is still on the scene
- There is physical evidence to collect, such as DNA, fingerprints, or items left behind [video surveillance does not count as physical evidence]
- The total value of lost or damaged property is more than $5,000 (**Shoplifting cases are exempt from the $5,000 loss threshold**).
- A hit and run collision, where the suspect driver can be identified and the victim desires prosecution [license plates are not suspect information]

To report a non-injury crash or found/abandoned property, please use the following links:
Non-injury Crash (not a hit and run collision)
Collision between two vehicles or a vehicle and an object where no one is injured.
Example: A minor fender bender. A vehicle loses control and runs into a light pole or tree, and they are not injured.
- Confirm there are no injuries.
- Is the damage less than $2,000?
- Are the vehicles blocking traffic?
- Is it legally parked?
Found or Abandoned Property
Property, which is found, and the owner cannot be located, or property appears to be abandoned.
Example: You find a backpack in the street, and no one is around; it appears to be abandoned.
- Once the online report is approved, a police investigator will call and make arrangements to pick the property up.
- Vehicles which appear to be abandoned cannot be reported here. (Go to Mesa CityLink to fill out an abandoned vehicle request)
- Any dangerous items which include, but are not limited to, firearms, explosive material or ammunition, syringes, etc., CANNOT be reported online. Please call 480-644-2211, option 2.
To begin the online report process, please complete as many of the fields as possible that apply to the incident. Much of the information that you provide will aid in the investigation process and some of it is utilized in documenting crime statistics. This information, non-personal information, will become available to the public under A.R.S. 39-121.
