Security & Utility Deposit Assistance Program

The Security and Utility Deposit Assistance Program provides financial assistance to eligible low-income households for the refundable portion of their security and utility deposit. Payments are issued directly to the landlord and utility provider.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • The prospective rental unit is located within the City of Mesa.
  • Total household income is at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
  • The applicant has not signed a lease or moved into the prospective rental unit.

Application Requirements
A completed application and all required documentation must be submitted to the City of Mesa Community Services Department. Requests for utility deposit assistance must be submitted with the application.

Important Information

  • The rental unit must pass an inspection before assistance can be approved.
  • The landlord and utility provider must accept a letter of intent that guarantees payment and agrees to all program requirements.
  • Assistance is subject to applicant eligibility and the availability of funding.
  • Assistance is based on the availability of funding.
