Front-Load Bin Service Guidelines

Guide showing examples of front-load trash bins in safe and unsafe conditions. Includes bins with closed lids and clear access labeled “safe to service,” and others labeled “overloaded” with excess or bulky waste. Some bins are blocked by items like furniture or vehicles. Instructions advise keeping waste below the rim, breaking down large items, and keeping access clear.

How to Prepare Your Bin for Service

  • Close the bin lid.
  • Keep all materials below the top (lip) of the bin.
  • Bag and tie all trash, leaves, and grass clippings.
  • Remove bulk or oversized items from around the bin.
  • Clear the area in front of and around the bin to provide safe access.
  • Ensure no vehicles or other obstacles block the service path.

A Bin May Not Be Serviced if Any of the Following Conditions Exist:

  • Excessive trash in or around the bin blocking access.
  • Bulk or oversized items blocking or overflowing the bin.
  • Trash or debris extending above the top (lip) of the bin.
  • Dirt, concrete, bricks, blocks, or other heavy construction materials in the bin.
  • Loose trash, leaves, or grass clippings that are not bagged.
  • Items leaning against the bin or enclosure walls, preventing safe access.
  • Vehicles or other obstacles blocking access to the bin.
