Citizen Fire Academy

The Mesa Citizens Academy is dedicated to educating community members about fire operations and safety practices. It provides valuable insights into the various resources available through the Mesa Fire and Medical Department, including firefighting techniques, emergency medical services, and community outreach programs. By participating in this academy, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the department’s critical role in ensuring public safety and preparedness within the community.

The Department may cover the following areas:

  • Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting
  • Community Risk Reduction
  • Emergency Medical Services
  • Emergency Transportation Services
  • Finance | Grants | Budget
  • Fire Prevention | Code Enforcement
  • Fire Resource | Fire Fleet Maintenance
  • Operations
  • Regional Dispatch Center
  • Special Operations

Eligibility Requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Reside or work in the City of Mesa
  • Background clearance is required

Upcoming Dates:

The academy meets one (1) day a week, on Thursdays, over the course of eight (8) weeks.  You may miss only two (2) days.

Thursdays: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
