How to File a Police Report
This service is provided as a convenience and is available in 30+ languages to report a crime that is not in progress. To file a report online, you must be over 17 years old. If you want to report a crime in progress, immediately call 9-1-1.
Important: Please call our non-emergency number at 480-644-2211 before visiting any police station in person. Our staff will direct you to the correct station for your report, so you avoid delays or unnecessary trips.

If your incident does not qualify for online reporting or you prefer to speak with an officer, call the Mesa Police Department’s non-emergency number at 480-644-2211. Our dispatchers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and will assist you with the next steps.

Additional Information
- Reports filed online or at a kiosk may take up to seven business days to process.
- If you are unsure if your incident qualifies for online reporting, please call our non-emergency number 480-644-2211 for guidance.
Filing online keeps officers available for emergency and in-progress calls. Most property crimes, thefts, and lost items can be reported online. You may only report incidents that have occurred in the City of Mesa. If the incident you are reporting occurred outside the City of Mesa, please contact the appropriate agency to make your report.
You CANNOT use this online reporting system if any of the following apply:
- The crime is happening right now
- A firearm was involved
- The suspect is still on the scene
- There is physical evidence to collect, such as DNA, fingerprints, or items left behind [video surveillance does not count as physical evidence]
- The total value of lost or damaged property is more than $5,000 (**Shoplifting cases are exempt from the $5,000 loss threshold**).
- A hit and run collision, where the suspect driver can be identified, and the victim desires prosecution [license plates are not suspect information]
- Intimidation/Threats (Does not involve mass gatherings, i.e., School, Church, Sporting Events, or other large gatherings)

The incident involves sexually explicit images or videos, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, child sexual abuse material, revenge pornography, indecent exposure or other sexual offenses.
For police services involving any of the aforementioned items, please call 9-1-1 if it is an emergency, or 480-644-2211 for non-emergencies.
Important Notice/WARNING: Do not upload sexually explicit images or videos through the Online Reporting system.
If your incident involves sexually explicit images, videos, or other media, please contact the Mesa Police Department at 480-644-2211 to make a report. These incidents require officer review and cannot be reported through the Online Reporting system.
Reports submitted with prohibited media may be rejected and referred to an officer for contact. Knowingly uploading illegal or prohibited content that is unrelated to the reported incident may result in a criminal charge.
